School meals are cooked in our own kitchen and a cafeteria system is used to serve a wide variety of healthy food. All children in the Reception Year and Years 1 and 2 are entitled to a lunch free of charge. Children in Years 3 to 6 can purchase a lunch for £2.50 per day. If you think you child may be entitled to free school meals please contact the school administrator.
Some children bring packed lunches and a drink. We ask parents to consider health and nutrition in the preparation of the packed lunches. These meals are eaten in the dining hall at the same time as dinners are served.
Milk and water are available free of charge for all children at lunchtime irrespective of whether they are having a school meal or eating their own packed lunch.
Children are encouraged to bring a drinking bottle of still water to school which can be kept in the classroom and used at appropriate times during lessons. Drinks other than water should not be brought to school unless they are to accompany packed lunches. Two drinking water fountains are provided in the building.
Snacks
The school participates in the National Fruit Scheme. All Foundation Stage and KS1 children receive a piece of fruit daily at morning breaktime.
Children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack to eat at breaktime. We leave the decision of what constitutes ‘healthy’ to each child’s parents or carers.
