Jeans for Genes Day
On Friday children can bring 50p and wear Jeans for ‘Jeans for Genes’ day. No uniform required and own clothes can be worn.
Toasty Tuesday
Toasty Tuesday will begin again tomorrow. The PTA will be selling a round of toast for 20p at morning break on Tuesdays. This is a good way of helping PTA funds and will provide a healthy tuck. If your child would like to buy a round of toast please send them in with 20p tomorrow, ideally in an envelope or purse.
Jeans for Genes Day
On Friday it is wear ‘Jeans for Genes’ day. Please wear your jeans and bring 50p which will be donated to ‘Genetic Disorders UK’.
Forest Schools
Forest School this week will be for Long Mynd and Wrekin Class on Tuesday. Please make sure that your child comes to school in old clothes but brings their uniform to change into if they get particularly wet or muddy. Don’t forget to bring wellington boots in a bag!
Class Dojos
Class Dojos have been set up for all classes. Clee class will be using dojo points to reward reading at home. In the other classes, points will be gained for a range of things such as reading at home, homework, behaviour in class and effort in work. Please sign up so that you can find out how your child is doing at school.
National Cupcake Week
Next week we are celebrating National Cupcake week with a change of puddings with school dinners on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The cupcakes available are as follows:
Tuesday – Animal Cupcakes (plain with vanilla topping and jungle animals),
Thursday – Sweet Heart Cupcakes (plain with vanilla topping and a sweetheart),
Friday – Very Chocolatey Cupcakes (chocolate sponge, chocolate topping and grated white chocolate). There is also a colouring in competition where the children can colour in a cupcake and have the chance to win a prize. Closing date for the returned colouring in sheets is 4th October.
Names on uniform
Can you please check that you have put names in all school uniform. There is still boxes of lost property in school waiting to be collected!
Ofsted
As you are aware the school received a two day inspection from Ofsted during the last few weeks of term. I am pleased to announce that the school remains good in all areas! The report has been published online today and you can follow the link on the school website to read the full report. I would like to say a massive thank you to the children, parents, staff and governors for their achievements in working together to ensure that all children have an excellent start in their education.
Homework
From Year 1 onwards children have been set up with online homework. We now have TT Rock stars which in an online multiplication tool where children have the opportunity to win points as they learn their multiplications. We continue to run Mathletics across school where the teachers set maths homework related to what the children are learning in class. As the term progresses we will be giving out certificates for homework completed. Your child will have their own personalised passwords to log on, these will be placed in the back of your child’s reading diary before the end of the week.
Year 6 children
Year 6 children were given an envelope today regarding their application to secondary
school. Applications must be made by 31st Oct 2018. Please ask at the school office if you have any queries regarding this process.
Lunch money
Would you please pay in advance at the beginning of each week & please ensure the money is in a named sealed envelope.
No parking at parish hall
The RAF are holding a cycling event at the parish hall on Wednesday 19th September and unfortunately parking will therefore not be available for school on this day.

The school now as a Twitter account, look out for tweets by following Minsterleyprim1.
PTA News
P.T.A. Meeting The next meeting will be on FRIDAY this week at 4pm. All parents are invited to come along and share ideas for fundraising and social events; meetings are informal and friendly!
PTA Lottery
At the end of last term draws took place for April, May, June & July. Congratulations to Eileen Davies (who won at total of £27.00, April & May) Chris Boon (£14.00 June) & Helen Reid (£14.00 July). The PTA made a profit of £55.00. If anyone would like to join the lottery please contact either a member of PTA or ask at the school office.
Community News
Minsterley Nursery- Treasurer required
Minsterley Nursery cannot legally operate without a full committee, they require a treasurer and if they are unable to find one then the preschool may be forced to close.
